Scramble "Kano" BJJ Gi
Classic Olympic Judo-inspired stylings from our homies at Scramble! We love the nostalgia of each nation's Olympic Games uniform, and the clean traditional aesthetic like that of old school Judogis - from the dual-fabric jacket with diamond-weave panels... to the sturdy cotton twill pants... to the minimal embroidery approach and sewn-on back patch.
Commemorating the Judo roots of Jiu Jitsu, the "Kano" is a nod to Judo OG Jigoro Kano. Kano's approach to hand-to-hand fighting has had a significant impact on combat sports, removing ineffective flashy (aka "deadly") techniques in favor of randori- and sport-applicable techniques which one could practice intensely and frequently, while minimizing risk of injury to one's self and teammate. The results spoke for themselves as counters and chains quickly evolved and each technique's efficacy improved. Kano was an early pioneer to trim the fat on grappling arts, and so the Scramble KANO Gi is appropriately a simple but reliable kimono, built to get the job done.
The KANO Gi has some elements of traditional Judo kimonos, but is indeed a Jiu Jitsu cut Gi. The feel and fit is in line with that of what you'd expect with Scramble's previous Gi lines and expertise. The Sashiko jacket skirt is a staple of Judogi construction, with a heavier jacket body and strong/heavier twill pants (100% cotton). The traditional back patch is sewn on - and thus can be removed (carefully!) if you're some sort of buzzkill - while the patch base itself is white fabric square that's been nicely screen-printed... and so, over time, it will take on a cool vintage appearance. In true Judogi style :)
